5 Things to Know About Jack in the Box's New Prototype

Did you know the latest Jack in the Box store prototype is designed to maximize efficiency, lower build-out costs, and streamline operations?

On September 19th, 2022, Jack in the Box unveiled our latest prototype model (MK12_W) at our grand opening in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

In this article, we’ll highlight five things you need to know about the new Jack in the Box restaurant prototype.

1) Designed to Maximize Efficiency

The new Jack in the Box prototype is designed to maximize drive-thru efficiency with our multiple-lane drive-thru and walk-up window.

These in-demand features can increase the efficiency of online, pickup, and third-party delivery orders by prioritizing speed and convenience.

Upgrades like these are designed to improve customer experience and help franchise owners fill more orders in less time.

2) Lower Build-Out Costs

When compared to our previous store design, build-out costs for the Jack in the Box MK12_W prototype are estimated to be 18-23% lower.

Removing the dining room from the MK12_W has allowed this design to reduce our restaurant footprint while improving overall cost-efficiency.

While smaller in size, this prototype is designed with dual-assembly kitchens to allow faster order preparation through line efficiencies.

3) Streamlined Operations

The latest restaurant prototype from Jack in the Box has even more features focused on streamlining day-to-day operations. For example:

  • Double Order Stations
  • Pay & Pick-Up Window
  • Parking for Mobile Orders
  • Parking for Third-Party Delivery

Features like these streamline operations for employees and delivery partners while making the ordering process for customers much smoother.

4) Exterior Designs to Attract New Customers

Our latest prototype has a distinctive design with features like our “Big Red Box” on the façade to help our +71-year-old iconic brand stand out in the community.

We can even highlight our late-night menu by shifting our red lights to purple when the sun goes down. Plus, our famous mascot Jack Box can be seen on signage and other features throughout the exterior.

Innovative and eye-catching design qualities like these will get people excited and attract new and returning customers to your location.

5) Modular Prototype Able to Fit Most Spaces

Another major benefit our franchisees will enjoy is the flexibility provided by our new MK12_W prototype design.

In addition to our freestanding model, we offer a modular prototype that can be used in various venues. Some examples are:

This allows the Jack in the Box brand to meet our guests where they are with a variety of build-out options to choose from.
